My daughters college textbook for math cost$133.00 at the college bookstore, I can purchase the "Teacher's edition"/annotated on line for around $50.00. This version has some answers and everything else the student version has. Should I buy the lower priced book on line?

I would just like to add that the text is a newer edition there are no used student copies on-line or at the college.
I am not getting this edition because the answers are in the text, cheating is not an option. I just need to save money!
I was just concerned about the content and if it would not be adequate. Some people are so negative.....

I think I would probably do it for my daughter if I had the opportunity to do that. Just because she has the answers and annotations doesn't mean she won't have to work. Ask her what she wants.

There's basically no difference......both books have the full text in them.....there's just some nice "extras" in the teacher's edition. Get the teacher's edition and pat yourself on the back for saving all kinds of money. A lot of the people selling them are selling ones they received from the publishers for classroom consideration and if they don't like it or want to use it - it goes up for sale. There's a better than 50-50 chance you're probably buying it from a faculty member who has no use for it.

Ok, I'm a teacher, and if I found out that one of my students had a teacher's edition and the opportunity to simply copy the answers, I would give her flat out zeros for her work, because she was cheating. Regardless of the fact that she did them or not. It's cheating.

If you can find the teacher's edition online for $50, typically the student edition is cheaper. Keep looking. www.amazon.com www.half.com www.ebay.com keep on looking. I bought all of my college textbooks online when I went to college. Check with the professor and see if your daughter can get an older edition, sometimes there isn't much different, except the price and color of the cover. Do a little research and get your daughter a book that won't tempt her to cheat.

You want her to learn GOOD habits at college right?

Having the teacher's edition with the answers in it gives your daughter and advantage over the other students. It's a form of cheating. I would check with the college or university's Math Department or the Dean of Students. If she is found with this in class, could she get suspended? Is it worth a savings of what, $80 to see your daughter expelled?

Just wondering???

You may want to email the professor, but as a teacher at a university I don't see anything wrong with it. I always like to save a buck on school books.

Teacher's Editions are given away free to educators. Whoever is selling this is breaking copyright laws. Yes, LAWS. If you want to violate the copyright LAW, then by all means do so. Just enjoy your criminal activity.

If it were me though, I would purchase a used copy of the textbook.

Let me get this straight.

1. You pay big money to send her to college to get smart
2. You buy cheap cheat book so she don't have to think or figure out the answer

Yeah, there's real money savings there....
