Does anybody know of any books that have similar things to Gone with the Wind, ie:Characters, relationships, etc.

If you do, please tell me the title! Thanks!

Read Eugenia Price. There is a series of books starting with SAVANNAH (circa 1809 or 1810ish) that continues through the civil war. I can't recall the rest of the titles in the series. But finding the first book should help you out. There are complex relationships...sprinkled with unrequited love in bits...heartache...slavery issues...etc. It was a great series. She wrote many other historical romances too.

You might try Anna Karenina or Vanity Fair. Scarlett has been compared to both. So if you're looking for women who are either very selfish and egocentric AND/OR who make poor choices in love you could try those classics.

If you're looking for books that are "like" GWTW or "similar" to it in anyway...don't bother with the so-called sequel. The characters are COMPLETELY different and the plot is outlandish. Also The Wind Done Gone is probably not worth your time.

There are plenty of books about the civil war time...some from the northern perspective...some from the southern...and others from the slave perspective.

Also reading books about Margaret Mitchell are just as fascinating as reading the book. For example, Margaret Mitchell & John Marsh The Love Story Behind Gone With The Wind is a great book.

Try Scarlett by Alexandra Ripley. It's actually the sequel to Gone With the Wind. Its got all the old faces, Scarlett, Rhett, and Ashely, and some new faces too. Not quite as good, but I still enjoyed it.
