i'm painting my room a dark blue and one of the wall with gold designs i wanted a swirly s kind of thing like the background of this pic http://www.wakeupfrankie.com/ensemble.asp?ensemble_id=134#viewer

how do you think the best way to do this would be?

Fashoin the "S" out of a coathanger and a pair of nippers. Wrap the wire around cans for smooth arcs. Place the S against the wall and trace with a pencil. Continue until the wall is filled. Then paint over the pencil lines with an artist brush.

just free-hand it, these are just large S shapes and should be easy to do free-hand, that will give the walls a more personal look than a stencil where everything would be precise. do it lightly with a pencil then just go back and fill in with your paint or even use a paint pen

try a pencil and string on a piece of paper. if that works than use the pencil on the wall (very lightly) and paint over it. or you can try free hand with the pencil. or you could draw it on cardboard and use that as a stencil.
