make them out of paper bags, then decorate them with sharpies and cool stuff you find to stick on.

First take a paper bag. Cut it down the side, cut out the bottom. Next, fold a flap over on the long side, sit your book (open) on top. Next, crease the paper bag along the bottom. Last. fold the ends inward about 2-3 inches. Do this on both sides. I hope this makes sense. Sorry there's no diagram.
