how do can you find out if you have a settlement?

we were in a car accident found a lawyer took the case to him gave him all the paper work, he said that he did not have enough information to pursue it, every time a called him he was never in his office to tell me anything

call the insurance companies. Settlements can take years if injuries were involved. You technically would have had to sign something if they issued a settlement. The other lawyers wouldn't just give it to your lawyer without you agreeing you will not go after them anymore.
