You may have too many windows open. Also you may need additional RAM in memory.
Try this:
Hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Delete key long enought so Program Manager comes up.
Look at the memory component. If the number say 3500 shows up and you only have 256 megs you are putting a lot of stress on the extra memory that the computer has set aside.
Don't forget that Limewire takes a lot of time to download and that is probably one of the causes if you are trying to download a lot of songs at the same time.
Also remember that it is a Peer type program and you could be exposing yourself for viruses, adware, spyware as well as malware.
For more info...type virtual memory is low into your search browser. It's the best thing to do before attempting to correct a problem.

you do not state what operating system you are using, but
as an example, you can in win98 click on MY COMPUTER,
and the last tab under PROPERTIES is PERFORMANCE, where
you can LOOK at your Virtual Memory ( your harddrive is used as temporary memory ), and choose another drive, or how much harddrive space you want Windows to use as Virtual space.
And the answer above states, you are filling up your harddrive and there
is no more room for temporary storage...
Either change the Virtual Drive settings to another empty drive, or burn your data, and clear up space.

Resize it. Click on Start, right click on My Computer and select Properties. On the General tab take note of free memory (RAM)
Click the Advanced tab, and in performance click SETTINGS. Then click Advanced. Virtual Memory, click change and set it to custom.... 3 times your installed memory for both entries.
Also, free hard disk space could affect this. But your virtual memory should REALLY be set (both min and max) to 3x your installed memory. Check your free space on the hard disk (C:) to see if it's nearing less than 1 gig.

Trust me, my computer was like that too. It depends on how big your hard drive is. The more you download, the more space you need. Think of your computer like a video game memory card or an ipod eventually you need to upgrade or just stop downloading all together. That's what I did but I also have a big HD too. Good luck!

1) Right click on My computer and select Properties
2) Select the Advanced tab and then click on the Settings button, under the Performance category
3) Click on the Advanced tab, then click on the Change button at the bottom of the menu
Check to see what your recommended and currently allocated values are. You might want to consider increasing them. If you just recently purchased your computer, it's possible these values were set by the OEM...

it can be just because of a worm or virus!. Many websites providing free MP3s are full of sypy&worms and viruses.
Use a trusted and effective (well-known except Norton) antivirus and scan your computer. You'll see I am right!
