First off, what he is doing is completely fine for his health. Many babies don't eat much or any solids before 10-12 mo and are perfectly healthy. It sounds like he knows what's good! Of course he refuses formula; have you ever tasted it? Totally nasty, even the smell.

For solids, definately don't pressure him, and for God's sake don't starve him into it! In fact, if he's too hungry, he likely won't be very open to trying new things, so nurse him first and then offer some solids. At his age, don't bother with purees or runny mushy stuff, especally if he isn't interested. Offer him healthy things he can self feed like chunks of ripe banana or avacado or steamed squash, sweet potato, or yam. Mashed potatoes (no milk, salt, or butter) and regular old fasioned oatmeal (no milk or sugar) are also good ideas; just put a glob in front of him and see what he does with it.

Ultamately, introducing solids isn't supposed to be sressful for mom or baby; it's supposed to be fun. So relax. Be cheerful. Eat with him to show him how much you enjoy your food. And rest assured that your milk is giving him all the nutrients he needs until he is at least 12 mo.

This is totally normal- just go with her lead. Keep trying every couple of days and when she is interested in it, she'll eat. My niece it was at around 9 months, and my nephew about a year! My son is 5 months and really starting to watch us eat, but we are waiting another month or so before introdcing solids. Breastmilk is the best thing for her, don't worry about solids until she's interested!

if you are trying to switch from breastmilk to formula i would mix the two ie: 3/4 breast to 1/4 formula, then 1/2 and 1/2 ect. for the solids i would start with something sweet like mashed banana or the previously mentioned applesauce. some people are going to say to veggies first so they don't get hooked on the sweet stuff, but at 8 months i would think you need to get him going on solids here pretty quick and sweets might be the answer. you could also try rice cereal mixed with breast milk, start real thin and work your way up to a thicker consistency. that why he might not turn up his nose since it will be more familiar

Breastmilk alone is absolutely fine for your babe at this stage. Babies don't really need anything but breastmilk for the first year nutritionally, anyhow- solids are just for fun and practice.

My babe was 10-1/2 months before she really showed an interest in solids, and I just didn't worry about it. She was healthy and gaining fine, and she started eating when she was ready to. Now, she eats like crazy!

Then he's probably not ready. He'll need them eventually, but a baby can thrive off of just breastmilk for the first year if they want to. I wouldn't worry about it. He'll eat when he's ready. Besides, by nursing him, you're saving yourself money on medical bills and food - and keeping yourself healthier also!

he's older now so he can do specific issues to stay away from being fed! it relatively is easily regular!! And it relatively is no longer YOUR cooking! I made maximum of my little ones' babyfood as properly. he's purely no longer used to the feel. wait and spot and shop on attempting. good now solids are purely a fashion of introducing him to genuine nutrients, no longer as a fashion of nourishment. shop attempting daily, two times an afternoon. If he enable's say despises strained peas, properly nxt time supply him sthg else, and then after a pair of days attempt returned. regrettably there is not any magic formulation. purely shop on attempting, and quickly he gets used to it. My daughter became into a similar, as quickly as I first presented solids, she wouldnt consume them! till ultimately she did. initiate with a topic or 2. Dont supply him too many stuff, you're meant first of all one or 2 greens. once you're additionally giving him toddler cereal, attempt one veggie consistent with day. Too many selections would crush him!! best of luck!

You might try letting him get really hungry, like leaving a big gap between feedings. You could try something really sweet like vanilla custard by Gerber in the jar foods. Don't give up too soon and he may also be trying to see how easy you will give into him as well. I would ask your son's pediatrician as well.

I had a similiar problem with my daughter. If your trying to feed him baby food. I would stop and give him regular foods. Applesauce, toddler yogurt, cream of wheat, grill cheese in small pieces of course and so on.

Have you tried giving him finger foods instead of babyfood on a spoon? Maybe he wants to do it himself.
