As above, prostate is a male-only organ which sits just below the bladder. Its function is to produce part of the "juice" which makes up your semen. They tend to enlarge as we get older and indeed if you check prostate in every man over 80, majority of them would be enlarged. This is called Benign Prostate Hypertrophy (BPH).
Symptoms of enlarged prostate (either due to BPH or both) are usually slow to start on peeing, poor stream, terminal dribbling and increase frequency, all due to the enlarge prostate narrowing the urethra (the tube between your bladder and the outside world).
PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) is a blood test. It may be raised in BPH or Prostate cancer. However it is important to note that PSA may be normal even with cancer and may be raised by infection, trauma (either post digital examination or urinary catheter) and urinary retention. It guides the clinician with their management but is not a definitive test.
The other bit to prostate examination would be digital examination (ie examination of yoru tail end). For your information BPH feels firm, large but smooth. Cancer feels nodular. Let your doctor do his/her job. He/She knows what he/she is doing.

If you had a PSA test and it was positive, you should remember that there are many false-positives with this test. If the doctor is concerned, he'll refer you for a biopsy, where a tiny piece of the prostate will be removed, frozen, and examined under a microscope to see if there are signs of cancer.
Even if cancer is found, prostate cancers are typically slow growing, and may not metastacise - in which case, you can still live a long and healthy life.
There are also many new treatment options that can remove the cancer - from microwave therapy that destroys the bad cells with heat, to cryo treatment that destroys the cells by freezing.
Transverse Urethral Resection of the Prostate - TURP - is not so common now, but may be done to allow you to pass urine comfortably if the prostate is squeezing the urethra.
Your doctor should explain all the treatment options to you. In any case, there is still a good chance that the test was a false positive and nothing is wrong.

prostrate is laying face down
prostate with no second 'r' - is the organ in your genital area.
You are in for the "finger wave" and testing.
No fear the second PSA is the one to worry about. the first one just gives them a starting point PSA can be up becuase of benign (not deadly) reasons. AND even some prostate cancers grow so slow they don't so anything for them. IF the number changes (goes up) really fast then there is a problem that will affect you.
Google BPH and google prostate cancer

Hell I knew what you want ...spelling freaks are just giving you a bad time. Yea a finger wave. I question that test. And the PSA test also.
When was the last time the Dr did it to you? And how does he know just how big yours should be? What is the comparison;; your anus diameter or the distance from the anus to the prostate, or the size of the urethra?
I think they just have fun. and get paid for it
Choose a recommended urologist or a clinic that specializes.

Adrian is right. I take Flomax for mine. all men should start prostate screening in there late 40's to early 50's and don't stop at the blood test, get the examination it is not a big deal.

If you've ever been disillusioned into thinking that there's nothing you can do to prevent premature ejaculation and that it's just something "you're born with" or "can't do anything about" then hopefully this will change your mind and inspire you https://tr.im/IIwmd
Because the truth is that there are many ways to prevent premature ejaculation, and being able to last longer in bed is something that lies within your control.

Prostrate : lying with the face down to the ground.
Prostate : a small gland at the base of the male bladder
Learn the difference please. Apparantly they found something abnormal with your PSA test.

The Diagnostic Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) defines premature ejaculation as a persistent or recurrent ejaculation with minimal sexual stimulation before, on or shortly after penetration and before a person wishes. Wow, that’s not a sexy definition. Personally, I define it as you come quicker than you or your partner wants. Luckly this is a great solution for premature ejaculation https://tr.im/5f271
