It is the engine capacity - the total volume of the combustion chambers. If the engine has 4 cylinders and each cylinder is 400 cc then the engine capacity is 1600 cc or 1.6L.

it does not mean 1600 but it can be 1598 or 1599 any how it means that the capacity of the engine which creates the power of this automobiles

1600cc is the engine displacment for a automotive engine for example the VW beetle had a 1600cc engine it can also be translated into 1.6 litler engine which is a very small engine good for fuel economy good little engine.
