As a novice, I wonder how best to go about getting an editor/publisher.

Look in the books you have used for reasearch and have read for enjoyment (if there is any such) on this issue. You can gain ideas there and submit your work. Another place is a writer's informational guide, probably in the library in the section for "how to" about writing and getting published. Good luck. I hope you make a million!!! Nana

You need to get an agent. No publisher will likely look at your work without an agent. You could publish it yourself, but that takes some money and a lot of work. Have you posted this question in Arts and Humanities? I have seen similar questions there quite often and some YA users who browse that category give very good answers. Good luck with it.

There's a book called "The Writer's Market" in the writing/reference section at your local bookstore which has everything you need to know.
