Is this unfair?!!!?

I am 13, I get straight A's and are very responsible, don't you think I deserve a cell phone?!!

I go out a lot.

Goodness no. Can you believe 100+years of teenagers spent their whole lives without cell phones??? Settle for a pager or a phone card. It's waaay cheaper. Then your parents will see you are responsible and may bump you up to a cell phone

Honey, you are 13, what do you need a cell phone for? I bet your parents give you theirs when you go out with your friends. And you're probably only allowed to use it for emergencies or to let them know when and where to pick you up, am I right? That's really all you need it for.

I did not have a cell phone till I was old enough to drive. That's when you really need one. I didn't get to use it just to talk though. Now I have a cell phone that I pay for every month and it is no fun. Your parents probably think that it is better to wait to give you a cell phone. If you had your own line to call your friends whenever you want do you really think you would maintain that A average?

I commend you for the straight As. Keep up the good work! And, I am sure that you can come up with another reward for being so responsible, like say an extra 30 minutes on your weekday curfew? Bargain girl, bargain.

Can you afford to pay for one yourself? If you throw a big tantrum and make a big deal about it, you won't get one. So, just let your parents know how you feel, listen to how they feel and their reasons behind their feelings (they should listen to your reasons too). Talk about it calmly. Ask them when they think you are old enough and why. Ask them what qualifications they have for you getting one....straight A's, taking music lessons (and practicing), volunteering a certain amount of hours a week, and participating in a sport. If they have to drive you around a lot, they are more likely to need to get you a cell phone. And don't complain if they start you out with a firefly. Take good care of it and show them you are responsible. If they don't get you anything, show them your maturity by how you respond to their answers. And lots of things seem unfair when your 13 (when you're 34 too!).

Where r ya going at 13 ("I go out alot")? Anyway, I gave my brat a cellphone when he started high school only because he had to travel far 2 get 2 school. It's up 2 Ur parents 2 decide when it's right 4 U. Keep up the good grades and work at proving 2 Ur parents that U r ready 4 the responsibility of having a cellphone.

sit down with ur parents and try to come up with a happy medium maybe tell them that a pre paid at first to show ur responsibility level once u show this maybe they can reconsider the option of a regular cell phone . Or do some babysitting or something and get ur own prepaid. My daughter is 13 and has one it is nice for keeping in contact did away with the yelling for her to come home for dinner now i can easily just call and she comes right home . I find it to be a useful tool in our lives. But my Ex husband pays the bill too . this is a way he can contact her with out having to go thru me so it works for us all .

I have a cell phone, straight A's and I'm very responsible, and I'm 13 too, But all my other freinds have don't have phones, Ask them for a tracfone to start out with, then after a while they will understand how usefull it is and you will get a better one like a cingular like me
