I used to be a size 0 junior about 5 years ago. now a 00 is a 0. gap sizes are huge. my mother is about a size 8 or 10 (in the 70s) and she wears size 0 gap!

it's especially annoying when people drag out that old line about marilyn monroe being a size 12. a size 12 in the 50s or 60s was quite small! her waist was 22 or 23 inches, which is a size 0 now! (although her hips were larger). \

i guess the "medium" in america keeps getting bigger (someone told me it's a size 30 to 32" waist, now.

yes, good point about being short also. I'm 5'1! And my waist is 21". Size 0 literally falls over my hips in the dressing room. It's not as much fun as it sounds. Also I have to have everything altered which costs me 20$ + sux.

I'm SO glad you posted this question! I thought it was just me recently who's had issues with this. I can no longer shop for work slacks at Banana Republic b/c the 0 is baggy and the 00 is too tight. What the heck! Why can't each store just standardize their sizing and stick with it?

Right on sister! I didn't mind so much when I was younger. But now I'm almost 30 and I wear teeny tiny shorts and mini skirts because I shop in the juniors department. Don't get me wrong... I'm always cute and trendy, but I also always look like a teenager. What suck most of all is that Misses sizes usually start at a size 6 or 8. Some of the nicer department stores and boutiques carry a lot in size 4. But how does that help me when a size 2 falls off even with a belt? I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. One of you more artistic girls needs to wise up and start a fashion line for smaller women! You'll be filthy rich if you do because I'll buy everything in your catalog!

Haha I agree! I went from a 00 to a 1 because my legs got longer but a 1 was really baggy and now sizes are getting bigger and I'm back to a 00 which fits the same as a regular 0...

I agree! It's because of the extreme overweightedness of America, and how the average person is about a size 8 in jeans. It's ridiculous! For jeans (I'm a 0 too), I buy Seven For All Mankind in size 24, which is the equivalent to a 00. They fit amazingly!

i totally understand where you're coming from. I'm a 0 and Gap and Express---forget it! i think their clothes run big to make bigger people feel better. I'm not trying to be mean but it's the truth.... they should realize there are petite girls with small waists who want to fit into their clothes too!
