First, take the largest unit given: an hour. They relate it to a quarter of that: 15 minutes. They also say it's 22 seconds more than that. So we take what we know, convert it to the right units, and then do the arithmetic.
15 min*60 sec/min = 900 sec. 900 sec + 22 sec = 922 sec.

15 minutes in a quarter hour
times 60 seconds in a minute
+ 22 seconds
15 x 60 + 22 =922 seconds in space

OK, so you have a quarter (1/4) hr + 22 sec, and you want a total in sec.
This is a unit conversion problem.
We know there are 60 seconds in a minute, and 60 minutes in an hour. First, we'll turn that 1/4 hour into minutes...

(1 hr / 4) *60min/1 hr
The hours cancel out, leaving 15 (60/4) minutes. Now, we can change the minutes into seconds...
(15min/1) * (60sec/1 min)
This time, the "min" labels in the numerator and denominator cancel out, leaving 900 (60*15) seconds. Now, you can go and plug in that 900 seconds for 1/4 hour, since we know they're equal.
900 sec + 22 sec = 922 sec

15 minutes in a quarter of an hour

15 min x 60 seconds/minute = 900

+ 22 seconds more = 922

Convert 1/4 hour to seconds:
1/4 hour x 60 min/hour x 60 sec/min = 900 seconds

Or think of how many minutes in a quarter hour (15 minutes right?). 15 minutes x 60 sec/min is 900 seconds.

22 seconds more than this is 900 + 22

(They asked for seconds, so you know the answer is going to be at least 22 seconds... not sure why you thought 0.88 would be correct?)

The answer is:
922 seconds.

if a quarter of an hour is 15 mins, and he lasted 22 seconds longer then that, the answer would be 922.....i believe...check the work tho...theres 60 seconds in a min, 15*60=900...22 seconds after that would be 922

1/4 hour = 1/4*60 minutes = 15 minutes = 60*15 seconds = 800 seconds = 822 seconds - 22 seconds.

822 seconds
