A friend of mine went into labor after the doctor 'tickled' her cervix. She had to undergo that lovely pelvic exam anyway and she was a few days overdue, so the doctor just gave her cervix a good massaging while she was in the area.
This is why having sex works (which is certainly more fun than the clinical setting!).
However, none of this nonsense works unless your body is ready and your time is near. In a couple of weeks you'll want to put it back anyway, when you haven't slept more than two hours at a time, and your nipples have blisters from breastfeeding.
While we're on the subject, this is only about 1/10th the amount of patience you'll need on a daily basis to actually raise the child, so get used to it, honey.

Use your breast pump for an hour or two. The baby hasnt released the labor hormones yet, so your milk hasnt dropped, and you wont get much of anything at all, or tap into the colustrum that the baby needs. That generally doesnt happen until just after labor.

Pumping stimulates your uterus, and subsequently the baby.

Also, stay active, dont lay around unless your doctor has told you to. Mop you floors on hands and knees, its a great way to help things along.

It's an age old question, Mom to be. I remember being very uncomfortable at that time and older women telling me lots of ways to get labor going, like: eat a spicy and heavy meal, and have your husband take you on a bumpy car ride. None of it works. The fact is, your baby and your body have minds of their own at this point. Unfortunately, you need to late nature take it's course. If you end up overdue, you will likely discuss with your doctor the idea of inducing labor with a drug called petosin (not sure of that spelling.) In the meantime, as unhelpful as it sounds, enjoy the peace and quiet while you can. Good luck and God bless you with a healthy baby.

With my first child, my water broke but contractions still had not begun 4 hours later. The nurse brought me a tube of cream and advised that I try nipple stimulation. Within 30 minutes I had my first contraction. You should be able to find some info on the proper procedure (so I don't have to describe it for any weirdos on here). Most doctors, books, and websites advise against nipple stimulation (during sex, etc.) in the last month of pregnancy because of its tendency to induce contractions. You might want to give that a shot! But do remember that if this is your first baby, your "normal" term might be even longer than 40 weeks, so definitely wait until your doc says the baby is truly viable.

I know you're fed up (I was by 37 weeks) and I sympathise. Try having a hot curry and having sex!
Really though I think its the baby who sends out the hormones to signal they are ready to be born and there's not a lot you can do about it. Especially if its your first baby as they usually come late.

I think you mean how to speed up the delivery of the baby, This is what I did with my 3 pregnancies:
I walke a lot
Ate lots of avocados
and around the las three weeks, I drank lots of coconut water.
These helped me a great deal, 30 mins, of labor and they were out.

Grannies tails? but they sure work!!

I really wouldn't. Your body knows what its doing and how long that baby needs to fully develop. Let nature take its course. I made the mistake of getting induced at 38 weeks and I completely regret it. My labor was long (24hours), violent and I wasn't allowed to even walk around. I wish I had let things happen naturally.

What labored for me replaced into going to a paying for mall and spending the day finding around (i in my opinion did no longer purchase a ingredient). i know you're keen to work out your toddler finally, yet relax certain he/she will have the means to make their front while waiting and not a minute earlier. attempt to chill out and revel in, and get each and every thing waiting in case you haven't any longer already. sturdy luck!

Ask your doctor. Some people say to eat spicy foods, etc, but really there's nothing you can do. Else the entire of India would be giving birth prematurely! Your doctor can tell you when it's time to induce you.

You can try to walk up and down stairs. You can also try to take castor oil, also I have heard that having sex will speed things along. Have fun trying.. Good Luck...
