There are several ways:

1) You can add watermarks over picture in PhotoShop. Read the help article from http://graphicssoft.about.com/cs/photoshop/ht/apswatermark.htm

2)You can include text or logo at different places in your pictures with some specialized programs as Bacth Watermark Creator. Download it from http://www.easy-tools.net/ .

You can do this at the US Copyright Office – see the last 2 links in the source box. The application is fairly simple & the cost is $45 per application.

Despite what others state, a "poor man's" copyright is NOT the same as registering it. Here's what the US Copyright Office has to say:

"The practice of sending a copy of your own work to yourself is sometimes called a 'poor man’s copyright.' There is no provision in the copyright law regarding any such type of protection, and it is not a substitute for registration."

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!

If you create the pictures or edit them using Photoshop, the program has a copyright feature that will tag your pictures with your information. this is a legal procedure. You can also watermark the files in low rewolution so as to make them harder to crop.

If you have photoshop you can embed a watermark under the filters menu, under digimarc. Also, name your pictures with numbers so web crawlers wont find them as easy. But pretty much, if its on the web and doesn't have a faded copyright sign on it or any other visual deterent, there's nothing you can do to keep it safe. Sorry.

Use Creative Commons to copyright your material:

http://creativecommons.org/

As for policing who uses your pictures, you'll have to hire someone to surf the net for your stuff or do it yourself.
