Conservatives claim a homophobe is mearly someone who fears gays and no one fears gays. If this is the case what would someone who hates gays be called?

For TG no such thing as a heterophobe. You dont see gays hating on straights it is always the other way round and if any fear straights well would you blame them? No one ever murdered just for being a heterosexual.

The worst homophobe is a gay in denial. A group of guys together might pick on a gay guy and it just might be all in good fun - they'd pick on him just as they might pick on any other vulnerable person and then move on. But the gay in denial will really stir them up and get them to pick on this guy more than they otherwise would.

Gay haters. im 15 and I was straight for 13 years of my life and in that time i never hated gays. But i have known people who do hate people like us. Thats why i Play it straight (until College)

Usually people who "hate" gays are actually reacting to a deeper fear of homosexuals and homosexuality, which is why even though they are gay-hating they are also, in effect, gay-fearing. Just my 2 cents.

Well hatred has to come from somewhere. It usually comes from some irrational fear. Maybe not a fear of bodily harm, but a fear that something awful will happen if you like me, or something terrible might happen if I live next door, or something terrible might happen if I teach your child, or.......So that fear translates to hatred.
If you hate anyone, think about that hatred. Could you say I hate him because I fear that he will do........x ? or do it again? or keep doing it?

Homophobia has two meanings. One is someone who hates homosexuals and bash gay people. The other is someone who fears homosapiens, which is the scientific term for human beings.

Homophobia is not just a "fear" of homosexuals, it is open negativity meant to demean, degrade, or disparage someone based only on their homosexuality.

as demonstrated in these forums daily, homophobes are those who fear AND hate us. they are raised in ignorance, taught that anyone/anything "different" is somehow automatically "wrong." they "use" religion to justify their bigotry. and I guess they somehow feel superior coming here and pointing fingers and condeming us. they only make themselves look even more foolish than they already are.
