Yep. That comes with being a mom. Most of the heroic acts moms perform are hardly even noticed. It has its own rewards though.

That opinion would differ from person to person, but my feeling is that recognized achievements are more gratifying than the unrecognized ones. I would attribute that to the need to be accepted by others, which I believe everyone has, whether they acknowledge it or not.

Not always. It's nice to be recognized for doing a job well. It should not be the underlying the reason to it well, the reason should be because you always do your very best. Recognition is the reward that others bestow on you, by buying into your product or service, idea or getting an A+.

Your question is good, but difficult for me to answer properly. Do you recognize that?

These quotes will help me explain my thoughts:

“It is up to us to give ourselves recognition. If we wait for it to come from others, we feel resentful when it doesn't, and when it does, we may well reject it.”
-Spencer Tracy

“Admiration, n. Our polite recognition of another's resemblance to ourselves.”
-Ambrose Bierce

“Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom.”
-Theodore Isaac Rubin

“There are two things people want more than sex and money... recognition and praise.”
-Mary Kay Ash

“Don't worry when you are not recognized, but strive to be worthy of recognition.”
-Abraham Lincoln

“What every genuine philosopher (every genuine man, in fact) craves most is praise -- although the philosophers generally call it ''recognition''!”

“Ah, beware of snobbery; it is the unwelcome recognition of one's own past failings.”
-Cary Grant

“Do not crave for recognition and respect from others; crave rather for winning grace from the Lord.”
- Sri Sathya Sai Baba

These quotes help shed light on your question. Recognition is a self serving prophecy-

YES!!! I like knowing that I have done a good job. Having the kudos is nice, it's nicest when my boss goes to my co-workers and says, "This is working better than what we have been doing." I enjoy the internal stimulation that I get when I know I have done exceptionally well at something without having to crow about it or have it brought to the limelight. It's an accomplishment that is Just for Me.....Very good question. Thanks. Nana

No, I like lots of public praise for my achievements. I need a thank you when I have worked hard. I think it would be nice to be the type of person who doesn't need praise to feel validated, but hey, it's the way I am and it does help me stay motivated.

Good question. Goes to the heart of people's intentions. Thinking in the abstract, I know it should not matter - a good deed is a good deed regardless of who witnesses it.

However, I'm not immune to praise. Human afterall, I guess.

"Truth is no harlot who throws her arms around the neck of him who does not desire her. To the contrary, the man who has sacrificed everything to her is still unsure of her favors." -Schopenhauer.
