The jury is still out on this one -- or the research doctors that is.
Technically you can do more harm to your fetus at this stage than if you had a drink in late pregnancy. The fetus is more vulnerable in the early stages and will be more serious adverse effects.
The answer is: It's not worth taking the risk.
The good news is you no longer have to worry about alcohol in breastmilk. The new theory is that your body is constantly regenerating and unless you are drinking or intoxicated WHILE breastfeeding there shouldn't be enough alcohol in your milk to affect your baby. So anyone can follow these guidelines, if you are tipsy - don't breastfeed. If you had a glass of wine w/ dinner an hour or two ago, don't sweat it!
Good luck! Live well, laugh often, & LOVE MUCH!

As most women don't even know that they're pregnant until they have missed their first period...most of these women have had a beer or two. But I wouldn't go any more than two.
It's ok to have a beer or two during pregnancy, as long as it's limited. Not daily, and not in get-drunk amounts.
Fetal alcohol syndrome is caused by alcoholics. They drink to get drunk, and drink often.
Chances are in a few short weeks, you won't be able to stomach smelling a beer, let alone drink one.

That's a personal choice. one or two will not "kill the baby" as that one woman said, but it can do harm just like smoking and drugs. If it were me, TRYING to conceive, I would not because of the fact that I know I want this baby and how selfish would it be for me to be trying, then go ahead and drink. Again, it's a personal choice

Not that I am suggesting you drink beer right now but for about the first 14 days that the egg is fertilized it is not attached to your uterus yet therefore what you do does not affect the newly fertilized egg because the placenta has not been formed yet

No...you are risking it. You deal with a drink...it is not all that important. If you really want a baby then wait till you find out for sure if you are pregnant. If you are trying to get pregnant you do not need to drink anyway.

As long as you don't overdo it, a little beer will not hurt you.
In the days when I had my children, the doctors hadn't started telling pregnant women not to drink. They trusted us to keep it within rational limits. Just do that.

Since you are not supposed to drink while pregnant I would wait until you find out for sure or not first. Why take any chances.

i would recommend not drinking at all, but if you must then you need to wait until your last trimester, (in extreme moderation) by the last trimester, your baby is mostly done developing they are just growing. so try not to. why would you want to take the chance?
