I never really thought about it but I loved the Transformers when I was a kid. I have the theme song in my head right now. But I guess the show was catered to little boys, and since boys that age don't really like girls (most girls have cooties, or something like that) it makes sense that they wouldn't turn it into an arena for gender equity. It's just that boys were the target audience.
