How to frame a soffit?

I need to build a frame around a horizontal heating duct ten feet long, two feet wide and 19 inches deep.

not structial so you can use 2x2

Drop 2x4's from your ceiling joists and frame into wall joists. Cover with drywall, tape, paint and viola!
