I was doing dishes. It was the middle of August in California, and it was really cloudy. Strange.
Just want to let you know, I got a kiss from the King.

I wasn't alive whilst he died, yet i'm a brilliant, extensive Elvis fan. I asked my mom this question and he or she says that she became into looking after my brother whilst she heard the information. My brother became into only 4 months previous on the time. She became into devestated. Now, out of all and sundry in our kin, I take his dying the toughest. whilst they communicate approximately his dying on television or teach video of the vigil or the funeral, I cry so no longer common. I purely presently got here returned from Elvis Week and that i on no account cried lots as I did that week. The candlelight vigil is unquestionably the toughest on me as a results of fact I actually breakdown as quickly as I see his grave with the mound of vegetation and bears and different issues. i've got confidence as though it relatively is a kin member that I lost. a guy that I on no account had the prospect to fulfill, has had an incredible volume of impact on my life that he sounds like kin to me. he will continuously be my #a million.

August 1976 - I was 15 years old. My Mum came running up the stairs to my bedroom, in tears and hysterical. It took a while for me to get any sense out of her. I was sitting up in bed and she had her head on my shoulder sobbing her heart out. Elvis was the same age as her when he died and the "pop star" of her generation.

Watching the news after tea. I'd just come back from a week-long youth trip. Then they said there was news that perhaps he hadn't died. At the end of the programme they said they'd had confirmation that he had in fact died.

I wasn't alive. I do remember where I was when I heard Princess Diana had died though. I was in bed and it was 2am. I couldn't sleep and was listening to the local radio station.
