I try to stay away from political issues on this site, but I have to say something now. I was changing planes in Dallas yesterday and during my wait time I went to the Admiral Club (American Airlines). They charge between $800.00 to $300.00 per year for admitance. AA makes the club available for free to anybody in iniform. Kudos to them. While there I saw a number of troops enjoying the quiet and comfortable conditions. I saw them look at the menu of food options. All grossly overpriced. None of them ordered anything. Why was I the ONLY one to offer to buy them lunch? Why was I the ONLY one to buy them a beer? I did. It cost me about $200.00. Big deal! Now I'm not asking about why we need troops, nor do I ask about what these troops are doing. All I care about is that these young men and women are risking their lives for US! How about a thank you? How about a pat on the back? As I looked around the Club at all the people that could simply buy them a beer, and didn't, I was disgusted

And I don't want to hear about Bush, Clinton, the Arabs or the Israelis. I am talking about OUR troops. The one that volunteered. The ones that are willing to die for us.

And how about thanking American Airlines for their support? They are the only ones, that I know of, that open the doors for our troops.

HOW could anyone say they don't support the men and women who "volunteer" to join the military. You are 100% right...they are protecting ALL of us...and with what's going on in this world right now and with what we may be faced with in the future...Where would we be without them?? And for anyone who doesn't support the men and women who serve...If it weren't for all the men and women in the past serving this country...where do you think we would be today??
And for what-ever the cause they are needed, agree or disagree with the politics of it, they are here to protect this country and deserve the utmost respect from Americans. Personally, I thank God we have these brave people....You did a great thing for them.

It is more than apparent how our liberal drive-by media ,as well as certain political figures ( Kerry;Kennedy to name a few)have made it practice to give aid & comfort to the enemy on numerous occasion , while contributing to the decline of our troop moral . While most Americans do what they can , many without fanfare or publicity .Some of us buy an extra box of Girl Scout cookies be sent to the troop; others pray daily for our troops, or donate cell phones . Others donate to the various veteran causes; or buy stamps commerating vets ; perhaps buy a poppy on Veterans Day . Usually the negative on anything is mentioned in the drive-by media; but I agree with you. More should be done.God bless you for being in the right place at the right time and being able to make someone's day . I hope they all know that the rest of us are not represented by the sentiments of the more often than not, treasonous drive -by media .

You can't criticize people if they didn't buy a bunch of troops beer! You did something nice but, you seem to be basking in your own glory. You must not do this often otherwise you wouldn't feel the need to praise yourself. That's how truly generous people are. The best deeds go untold whether it be for troops or the Pope. Others could be supporting the troops in other ways that you don't know about b/c YOU don't know them! Get over yourself!

I care about our troops and pray for them everyday, all branches of the armed services, home and abroad. My son is in the Air Force stateside. My daughter's boyfriend is a Navy Seal and has been in the hospital for dehydration and fatigue in the Middle East. I'm sick of people treating them like lepers because they want to make an issue of the politics behind the war. I felt the same way about the guys who were able to come home from Vietnam. Society shunned them as a whole. These guys were the honorable ones...not the weak frightened ones who escaped to Canada behind their political views. I'm proud of our sons and daughters who serve America. I say thank you for defending us and to those who support them. Dave, I salute you for being an honorable man. Thank you for sharing this (hug and kiss).

I know what you mean, I see that here in El Paso, Tx. allot, we have Ft Bliss here and we have allot of soldiers, marine, naval men and air men to include women in the military as well. I also have served for 7 years and was in Desert Storm. I have met many from the military just getting home from Iraq and I have offered to buy them a beer, to thank them for their heroism and some accept and others just say " I WAS JUST DOING MY JOB, SIR"

i totally agree with you. think about all those poor people who went into the military for vietnam war they came home and people were actually spiting on them!! no one was happy with that war and instead of taking it out on the people who deserved it they were cold blooded to our troops, when they were just doing their jobs!! Like with this war, Bush trying to make it seem like if you dont support him you dont support the troops. His war and him being our president should have nothing to do with our troops that is our brother sisters and best friends out there doing the dirty work while we sit on our couch all comfatable and forgeting that they are they reason we are not over there right now. they are the reason we are not like africa and send 9 year olds over to iraq to fight for us. People should be helping support them more. Maybe the people who don't shouldn't be in America.

I think what you did was great, but please don't speak ill of those that didn't offer. Most people in there are probably there because their corporate office pays for the admittance. They may not have had the money to be as generous as you were. Our soldiers fight for every ones freedoms. Thank you for your kindness.

Thanks for buying them a beer and lunch. And it's not about politics because it doesn't matter how they got there. The fact is they are there and saying thank you does seem to be the least we can do. Peace

It's much easier for them to put a bumper sticker on their car than actually show a troop some love.

I care about OUR troops, just not the war that they are involved in, it's not their choice. I DO NOT support the war or BUSH.
Someone that I know who was there told me "Hate the war not the soldier" which is how I felt all along.
