try downloading the c-media AC'97
its a sound card i think. You can download this at download.com
just type c-media in the search box. If you have windows xp and you continue to have this problem i might be able to help. I had this problem too but i fixed it.

You don't need drivers for speakers, you need a driver for your sound card
