I tried to return a product to Wal-Mart with a receipt. They refused to refund the amount I paid for the item, citing that it had been over 90 days since the item was purchased. There were extenuating circumstances, but that didn't matter to them. Aren't they governed by laws in Texas concerning this? And, if they are, what are they?

There are no laws governing your purchase.

You are out of luck!

Sorry!

When you buy something at a store and later change your mind, your ability to return the merchandise depends upon store policy.

They are not required to refund the item after 90 days unless there is some type of fraudulent practice involved. Here is a guide to some possible extenuating circumstances under the Texas Depeptive Trade Practices Act - http://tinyurl.com/qt79c

Additionally, some people in Texas think that there is a cooling off policy but..."There is no universal three-day cooling-off period. Don’t be misled into thinking that you have an automatic three-days for canceling a purchase. Only a few types of contracts give you a right to cancel." - http://tinyurl.com/ou6vo

I doubt it. The standard for return is 30 days. The fact that they said 90 days is already a lot of days. Some stores only give you 2 weeks or so.
