Go around to neighbors and ask if you can do odd jobs, or pet sit, or baby sit, or mow the lawn, pull weeds, etc.
That's what my generation did in the 70's, made good beach cash back then :)
If you are willing to do an honest day's work, there is money to be made! :)
Also, riding a bicycle is realistic up to 5 miles each way (1 hour ride?)
Be creative, ask for work, and keep good financial records for Uncle Scam ;) (yes, you MIGHT have to pay taxes, it depends on the gross for the year......)

Do you have access to public transportation, like a bus or taxi? If not are you in walking distance from any particular place that you could go submit your application? Otherwise, you need to find a friend or family member who can take you to and from work. Good Luck in your search.

When I was 17, I used my feet to walk back and forth to my job. Check out any local stores within walking distance.

Go to http://www.monsterjobs.com, and or look for a local job that you can walk to. Sure it will be hard at first, but when you save some money, you can go purchase a car, and then get a job further away that pays more etc...

Try to work for fast food or the grocery store, & if that doesn't work, then try working for a temp-service staffing agency.
