I have one that's a couple of years old. Maybe they've improved since, but I don't think I'd buy one again. (At the same time, I'm really curious about how well the Scoomba model works.)

They're okay for light work, but don't expect them to work on anything but a short fibered carpet that is only lightly soiled. High traffic areas, houses with varied flooring or high traffic areas where leaves and the like get tracked in or lots of hard floors aren't ideal for the Roomba.

We were in a house with hardwoord, flagstone, linoleum, tile and carpeted floors on the first floor. We also had a lot of people coming and going and a Great Pyrenees (great sized dog with lots of long hair, shedding constantly). The poor little vacuum didn't have a chance!

I saw a special on that vacumn cleaner once and I thought it was great. I love my Dyson and I have had every kind of vacumn in the book, Kirby, Miele, Electrolux, Hoover, etc. I have listed two good sites to go to for further information on this cool futuristic device. Good Luck!

Why not ask a carpet installation company which vaccum would work best on your type of carpeting? I used http://www.aboveboardflooring.com/ . Andrew helped me out a lot. I bet you can get some good advice there. Good luck.

they are o.k.
not great at all on a high pile rug
but if your carpeting is low and you don't have a huge mess it is great!
for a single person living alone it is ideal, but use it daily
