Everybody's different, but generally the piercing itself isn't that painful. What's more annoying is the weeks of tenderness and sensitivity while it's healing.

It might be more appropriate to ask "How much do belly button piercings hurt?" Cause there is no way that sticking a hollow metal tube through your flesh isn't gonna hurt. But in general piercings only hurt for a second or so and the first few times you clean them.

They really don't hurt. However, I had mine for a few yrs and then the ring fell out and my hole closed. When I went to have it re-opened, it was much more painful than the first time around. Moral of the story: if you get one, don't let it close unless you really don't want it any more.

Well my sister who was 14 at the time when she got her belly button ring, said it felt like death, but my mom ( in her 40's...shh!!) said she didn't feel a thing. Good luck!!

I got mine when I was 15. It hurt at first, but not for too long. It was like a sharp prick that didn't stop for a few days. It was better if i didn't let my pants catch on it.
