They have evolved to have an innate fear of light because it increases their chance of being seen and eaten by a predator (or killed by a person). Those roaches that did not have a fear of light more often failed to live to reproduce, so their genes eventually disappeared from the gene pool.

They're a nocturnal critter, and are sensative to light, as they are built to be in the dark.

haha i like those answers, and they are nocturnal and they hate the light... they are a scourge to the earth!

Perhaps they instinctively associate light with: humans and death?
Since they are 'dark', light is needed to 'see' them . . .?
Once they are 'seen' - they can be squashed. . .

because there noctural, prefer dark. andd there evil and all living thing dont like the dark hehehe jk :)
