As a kid, I was too. So I know the answer is we don't respect the animals. I do now, and will not do the mean things I use to.

Most humans are too stupid and arrogant to even consider the harm they are doing to the lives of other creatures. Destruction would appear to be the natural action of any human that hasn't been brought up otherwise and most aren't. The only reason they don't normally abuse other humans is because of laws and social conditioning which makes harming another human a huge taboo. Remove that and most people would treat eachother in the same despicible fashion they treat animals. Even with laws and conditioning disgusting violence against fellow humans regularly takes place.

In the future the way we treat animals now wont be believed. The level of barbarism that is commonplace and not even remarked upon now will seem like a horror story.

Short answer: Because humans are very dangerous and naturally barbaric.

Because humans are animals and it is nature. A kitten will tear a butterfly to pieces and play with a cicada until it wearies and dies. Puppies destroy. Children squash bugs and other creatures for sheer fun. It is part of growing up.
Then young animals learn respect and often empathy (especially human animals as they develop.)
As youngsters they didn't know they were being cruel and that their actions were causing pain, suffering, even death. Once these concepts are understood, then most stop. If they don't, some kind of love or nurturing is lacking in their lives.
Not sure whether to pursue this a bit more, but often religion plays a part. If you compare conservative Christians to traditional Buddhists, the former are told that Humans are superior and that God created all other animals to be used for man's purpose. Buddhists have no such distinction and respect all living things.
Education and more emphasis on emphatic suffering will help us all.

Your question needs some repair. it should read, why the humans are so inhuman to humans, and why the animals are so loyal to humans

lol
Some humans are animals
I think u have define between wild and pet animals
Some people are wild, and follow the law of the jungle: the strongest survive!
And some people are civilised (when u say human I think u mean, of higher intelligence), enough to see hurting some one or thing weaker than u is wrong
So pity inhuman humans they just haven’t evolved yet

I'm not, and I've always believed that anyone who can be cruel to an animal can also be cruel to human beings. Offenders should be put on a register similar to sex offenders.

I know what you mean. I really do think they should have the punishment fit the crime. I always wish there was "transmigration" when I hear of animal abuse. The people who do it would "come back" as animals and have exactly the same thing done to them!! Who knows, maybe there is.......And if this is really eternity, they would have time to come back as every single one they abused!

Some people just like to have superiority over others, and animals are an easy hit.
I think its really sick, as I love animals, but we have to realise that some people are not very evolved yet, and are really just like animals themselves.
