I heard recently that there is talk of making a movie with Brandon Routh as Superman and Christian Bale as Batman, joining forces to fight crime? Has anyone else heard about this? Is it for real? Info please. Thanx!

There have been talk about a "Batman vs. Superman" movie since 2002, but thats all it has been,"talk". But the movie studios are more concerned with making the individual movies.

I don't think that they are going to do a movie with both of them.
As you have probably heard, they are creating the new Batman, Batman: The Dark Knight, and it is coming out in 2008, and I know that they don't add Superman in that.
I don't think that they will add the two, not only because that might be confusing to join the two in such a late film, but because of the confusion with the producers.
In Superman Returns, the producers are from Legendary Productions, but in Batman Begins, the producers are from Warner Bros.
So, no. Even though it would be VERY NICE to have both Brandon Routh and Christian Bale on the same movie screen, I don't think that they will join the two.

a few years back there were plans to do a movie based on the series where Batman and Superman are in their 60s or 70s and they end up fighting each other but the director backed out and then they decided it would be better to do the beginning films

Just a rumor. Chrisitan Bale and Heath Ledger are currently making a Batman Begins 2 - The Dark Knight and Superman is not in it at all.
but even if they did, Batman would kick *** because Superman sucks.

There was talk of trying to do a rendition of the "World's Finest" for the big screen, but as of last word, the project had been abandoned due to the cost of making a movie involving only one of the two requisit heroes.

It was rumored a few years back. There is even a very cool "fan film" trailer on Ifilm, but it was/is just a home made movie.
