nanawutz is confusing "style" with "medium."

Style for painting is almost like genre with music. For example, a song could be blues, jazz, rock n' roll, r&b or rap. Similarly, a painting is done in a certain style that depends on the artists' time period and location, and his/her artistic preferences. There are hundreds of different painting styles. The style involves the type of subject that will be painted, how realistic the painting will look, what colors/shapes the painting will have, how the canvas will be composed, and other factors.

Leonardo's style is a Renaissance style of painting. Renaissance painting was usually on religious themes, with attention paid to composition and realism. Da Vinci pioneered a technique called chiaroscuro, characterized by bold contrast between light and dark. He also created the effect called sfumato, a hazy or smoky looking effect.

They are referring to if the artist varied in the things they chose to portray in art. If da Vinci only did sculpture, that would be his style. Instead, he had many styles. One artist may be cubist, another did pointalism, and another like Eschler did pencil drawings, many with stairways that led to nowhere. Some artists used watercolor and others oil. That is the type of thing your teacher wants to know about. Did the artist use more than one style? Did he/she also make furniture? Crazy but true. Encycopedia's are a good research point, as is the net...Good luck. Hope you get a good grade.

Pop art would be a good style to paint the horse in, so artists like andy Lichenstein would be good. Bright colours and quite interesting. Just search it on google to see some ideas.
