Under President Bush's No Child Left Behind when a school doesn't meet AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) than parents have the right to transfer their child to another area school.

Check on your state/district's website and see if your school made AYP - or just call your school district's office and see if your school made it. If they didn't make AYP than you have a right to transfer. If they did, then you'll just have to keep a really low profile and pray.

(The AYP would be an easy and alternative way to get out of your school by saying that the school just isn't strong enough academically.)

p.s. Why are you saying you CAN'T transfer? What factors are there?

I agree with i_know_everything. Make some calls and TELL anybody who will listen about your concerns until you get some positive feedback. Communication is the key.

In the meanwhile, if you are approached, don't say or do anything which could be construed as provocative.

It's a fine line and I feel for you. Good luck.

I've taught at schools with gangs. They rarely ever bother students who aren't gang members. Schools usually keep a good eye on them, too.

You can do what i did and continuously get in fights. After about 100 you get used to anything, around 200 you begin to like it and if you're not in jail by 300 fights, you'll probobly end up in the octagon...
