I lived in another state for th past 6 years and had no problems. I am passing thru OKla. and they find out I am there, then suddenly I am in court for updates to my case. I am now living in another state and they still want me to make an appearance. Going to court requires me to put off my leave to the army. Should I maybe talk to an editor of thier news paper and ask them. Any thoughts? Whats the best way to find out why Child Support can't handle anything on thier own?

Have you ever received any kind of governmental assistance for the kid? It seems like it should only be OK's business if you or the child or the child's other parent ever received assistance for thsi child. If there has been any AFDC, WIC, Medicaid, birth expenses, or anything else paid out by the state (or any other state, since their are reciprocal efforts to get reimbursement) then they have the right to pursue reimbursement. If no assistance has ever been paid out then the state doesn't have a claim.

I have seen cases that were in court where small amounts of AFDC were received for the kid, the absent parent repaid that amount, and then the parents were allowed to get the state to back off. In those cases it was a verbal request made at an already scheduled court appearance. You could ask at the clerk's office - there might be a motion you and the other parent could file.

Good luck!

Call the child support office and ask if they can transfer the case to your state. If you're not doing what you're supposed to be doing they will keep calling you to court, so just do as you should be doing.

Addition:

Perhaps you could contact the Child Support division to find out exactly why they are doing this. If they need more information you can get them what they need. You might also contact the Army and ask them if there's anything they can do to help settle the situation.
