I have taken multiple hpts which have all been negative and am still having a period regularly (on BC pills). I had my yearly exam when I could have possibly been about 10 weeks. Would my Dr. have detected pregnancy?

Your OB would have detected pregnancy at 10 weeks along with a pelvic exam. Softening of the uterus and a change in texture of the cervix is apparent as early as 4-6 weeks of pregnancy.

Not only that, but you would have been asked questions like "when was your last period" and stuff like that - so the pregnancy possibility would have been brought up to the doctor, prior to getting the pelvic.

If you were ten weeks pregnant - you would have had a positive pregnancy test, and have missed at least two periods. So, you weren't 10 weeks pregnant. You were not pregnant at all.

I am curious why you might think you are pregnant with multiple negative hpts, and if you are on the pill. Do you have some sort of symptoms of information that might make you think you are?

I would guess that a visual exam might not show a pregnancy, as it only reveals the vagina and cervix to the doctor, not the uterus where the changes would be occurring. Of course, OBGYNs are probably pretty good at detecting smaller signs that your regular doctor might have missed. Was your exam with an OBGYN or a regular MD?

A gynecologist would most certainly have been able to detect pregnancy at 10 weeks by observation. Mine always told me on my first OB exam that the cervix was purplish, and that is one of the first signs of pregnancy observable only by your doctor.

If its very early pregnancy then no.

By 10 weeks I would imagine they may be able to feel the enlarged uterus but its possible they wouldn't have.

You'd need an ultrasound scan to be sure. If they did one of those then they would have been able to tell.

Blood test is the best way to detect early pregnancy.

A doctor cant tell your pregnant just by a pelvic exam unless you are much further along. A blood pregnancy test would be able to tell though.

If you were 10 weeks along he could have visually observed signs (your cervix changes color) and there would be an increase in uterus size. If he didn't you need another MD don't go back to him.

I think so. Things change down there. Color (due to blood flow), feel?, and your mucus plug or something? I know on my first OB visit they did a exam and she said I was deff pregnant from doing the exam down there.

Yes, because your uterus starts to grow immediately. My Dr. knew I was pregnant at 5 weeks.

Yes your Dr. would have known. When you become pregnant your cervix becomes purple and firmer.
