I'll be ordering my contacts soon and was considering try out the coloured ones as a treat for the new school year. My eyes are currently green, with a touch of hazel and the smallest bit of gold. So, if I were to order coloured lenses, which should I get?
Fair skinned, dark brown hair.

Sounds like you have beautiful eyes. Why would you want to change them?
If you are set on the idea, maybe go with a pure green for a brighter color than what you've got. I wouldn't reccomend trying anything too different for a first pair. It will take time to get used to seeing blue, brown, or a wild color in the mirror. And if you do drastically change them, you'll be changing your eyemakeup too, if you wear makeup.
Many offices let you try on pairs in office before you order. Maybe you could try a virtual makeover to see what you would look like with different colors. You can scan in a picture of yourself, or if you don't have a scanner or digital camera, pick a model that closely resembles your coloring. Then try out different eye colors and makeup fo find a look that you like.

Aww no fair! I wish I had green eyes with some hazel... I have light brown eyes but I like green eyes a lot. Maybe try going for a light green.

The green, hazel and gold sounds beautiful. It would be a shame to cover that up. You could try a emerald green or migrate towards the steely blues.

I think that you shouldnt get colored contacts. I think green/hazel eyes look pretty on people with dark brown hair.

well, it sounds like you already have gorgeous eyes!
i'd try blue b/c you rarely see people with brown hair and blue eyes. it's always brown hair = brown eyes. very boring and repetitive.
blue would look nice, but pick a realistic shade.
