Racism is not confined to a few states. It is everywhere. Each region has its own issues. The South where I live still has problems . even though segregation and slavery by law are illegal now, there are still issues going on such as the Confederate flag. As a rule, the racism in the South is upfront and racism in the north is subtle, but that rule has many exceptions everywhere. I don't know which percentage of the population is racist, but there are many people out there who harbor racism in their hearts whether it is virulent and up front, subtle, or even subconsciously.
When I was in high school, I accidentally bumped into a girl when I was moving back(I did not know she was behind me) and a dollar fell out of her hand. She got mad at me and I got mad at her while trying to convince her that it was an accident. She became upset and called me a "loud-mouth(the n-word)". Her friend was standing right there and lied to me saying that she didn't say anything. I turned her into the pricipal's office. The principal did not punish her because the only witness did not testify against her. The irony of the situation was that I had know both of these girls since middle school and I never thought they would do things like this.

it exists in small pockets of every city and state. some states (namely the South) are chock full of racism both blatant and indiscreet. there's no doubt in my mind that the governments are racist. which is why you'll never have a minority president or anyone else in a high position of power. true, some senators are minorities but they amount to less than a percent of the overall majority. Senator byrd, longest serving senator was a former KKK member. yet still he gets elected into office everytime, why? america was built upon racism and will continue to be so. there will never be an end to racism here in america. my guess would be somewhere around 20% of the population are blatant racists, while a little more than half of them harbor some racial prejudices. many will not admit to it freely but it is there and can be quite obvious. look at those who ride subways. they will never sit near or next to the black guy fearing he might rob them or something. especially nowadays with middle eastern people. people are extremely on edge when they are around.

From my observations, racism exists everywhere. However, it appears to be more prominent in certain areas of the country, such as the southern states. I think that the federal government is absolutely racist, although possibly without really realizing it. As for state government, it probably depends on which state you live in.

I'm going to level with you. Racism is something that's happening all over the world, and it's never going away. As for the governments being racists, well, let's just say they're closet racists.

It is alive and well, unfortuantely. I believe it is highest in nonsouthern states. I think the South has had to deal with race in a way most others haven't.

I PERSONALLY SEEN RACISM IN ACTION . A GIRL OF MIXED RACE CAME IN TO GET HER HAIR CUT , THE STYLIST TALKED WITH HER TO GET ALL THE INFORMATION ON WHAT THE GIRL NEEDED AND SHE ASKED HER MANY TIMES ABOUT THE CUT AND THE WAY IT WAS STYLED . WHEN THEY FINALLY KNEW WHAT WAS TO BE DONE THE GIRL WAS EXCITED . AS THE STYLIST CUT AND STYLED HER HAIR THE WAY THE GIRL WANTED , SHE WAS SITTING THERE COMPLIMENTING HER ON WHAT A BEAUTIFUL JOB SHE WAS DOING . WHEN THE GIRL WAS DONE AND CHECKED HER HAIR IN THE MIRROR , AND WENT TO THE DESK TO PAY HER BILL , ALL OF A SUDDEN SHE WAS WITH AN ATTITUDE , THIS AIN'T WHAT I WANTED , YOU CHARGED ME MORE CAUSE I'M BLACK , I'M GOING TO REPORT YOU , THIS IS A RACE THING , I DIDN'T WANT MY HAIR CUT THIS SHORT . AFTER A FEW MINUTES OF HER WHINING WE CALLED THE POLICE AND SHE WAS HAPPY TO PAY THE BILL .LATER WE FOUND OUT SHE WAS GOING ALL OVER THE CRYING THE RACE CARD AND CALLING WHITE PEOPLE NAMES .

i think racism is active in all walks of humans
it is just how people present themselves in displaying racism
everybody judges people, it is just some people are compelled to state certain stereotypes and live by them
