I you are really really stuck, let the water subside a bit. Then use an empty 1Lt. coke or 7 up bottle with the cap screwed on tightly,a few gently up and down actions and your problem should be solved. I works for me all the time.
It is practical and not as distasteful as it sounds. Good look.
