Heh...good question.

There is a principle in Social Psychology called Diffusion of Responsibility. Basically, if I was alone on the street, or there were only a few people around, I would help you out faster than I would if there were a LOT of people milling about. The reason people do this is not because they are "uncaring", but more because they feel that someone else on the street is probably more qualified to help you out (i.e.a doctor, nurse, paramedic, etc.).

To be sociological about it, I would have to say it depends on the region of the USA you're lying in. According to a bona fide study, you are most likely to be helped 1) in the South (unless you're black) 2) in the West 3) In the East and 4) in the Midwest. Surprising, yes?

It would depend on how clean I thought you were before the incident. If I thought you weren't diseased, sure I would!

(gosh, guess I've been subjected to too many homeless and insane people in Los Angeles)
