my husband and I both work...and nine times out of ten, we live paycheck to paycheck. It sucks. But at least we pay the bills.

No.
You are not alone.
And now that my wife has convinced me to build the addition to our home, we're joining you in the paycheck-to-paycheck world!
Listen - if at ALL possible, try to tuck away a few dollars each paycheck into your savings account.
Set a small but do-able figure, and stick with it.
You gotta look out for yourself.
In the meantime, get some free credit counseling and see where you can trim off some of the wasted spending.

Most of the world lives from paycheck to paycheck, or from hand to mouth,, not being able to meet all of their real needs. It is only 5% of people in the world that have 95% of the worlds resources! You're probably better off than a lot of Latin Americans, Africans, Chinese,, and American Indians are the poorest people in the USA. A few people have great big mansions and summer homes, while others live in cardboard shacks. You are probably somewhere in the middle.

From the time I was 17 until the time I was about 40....depressing huh?...but MOST of us have/had to...I was happy to be making it paycheck to paycheck - I had friends that weren't making it. Heck, I was happy to have a paycheck...it gets better as you get older and make more money and children grow/gone and bills not quite as high as they used to be, etc.

that is hard to answer, cause there are six-figure-income people who live paycheck to paycheck; after a certain point (beyond the bare necessities) people willingly expand their lifestyle to fit their paycheck; still, according to FreeDonate 40% of the homeless work
Myself- I try to have 'brething room'; I just got a new, bigger, more expensive apt, but on my new vehicle I paid it off an dont have a car payment; i also eat in more often now

Almost everyone. The cost of living has gone up, but wages haven't. Life sucks. Can't retire until you are in your late sixties/early seventies - depending when you were born. Life just sucks without a degree. Completing high school isn't enough anymore and hasn't been for a long time.

i live paycheck to paycheck right now. I'm not really broke though. my rent is cheap, my utilities are cheap, my insurance is cheap, i don't splurge and buy all kinds of sh*it that i don't need. i do not need to go out and buy the latest piece of junk to clutter my home. you see advertisements telling you that you need a certain product to make you happy. and feel successful.. anyways, you can downgrade some of the things you own or manage money differently..

No, I'm willing to bet there are a lot of people that do it (hence the expression). Most of my paycheque goes towards the credit card bills I racked up in college and the rest goes to living expenses. I have no savings to speak of and I'm 27.
