I absolutely agree. I make a conscious effort not to tell anyone that I love them until I know for sure. I have waited a year or more to tell someone I loved them. I don't think it's fair to tell someone that you love them if you don't really know for sure. I've only told 4 people (excluding family members) that I loved them, and considering I started dating almost 20 years ago I think that is pretty good.

I think back to some of my ex's. I may have told someone I loved them when in reality it may have been lust but at that moment I truly believed I was in love with them.. so what??? Love may be a word that is abused often but it is also misunderstood or maybe too much emphasis has been put on a word... doesnt make this a world full of farce. What a negitive way of looking at things.

The word "love" is used a lot, but the actual feeling does not seem to be extended on a daily basis, between people.

That is true. People throw that word around too much. The word love is abused so much I think because people don't know their own feelings. I really can't think of another word that is abused more. I think we abuse it so much because we want to love and be loved so desperately.

I agree that it is overly used and thrown around.
I have said it in the past, which makes it hard to know what true love really is..

In the words of Shirley Valentine, "'I love you', they should bottle it and sell it. It fixes everything. It's like you could be battered, broken, and half insane, and all he has to say is 'What's the matter? you know I love you!'"

yes it's used too much, but consider the context in which it is used each time, but we get the point
