I'm afraid I do, but I am working on it.
I was raised Catholic and was taught by my mother to put myself last and worry about the needs of others first. I was made to feel wrong over and over again in my large family of seven and learned shame at an early age.
I am now a grown woman who is taking painful, deliberate steps to rid myself of the guilt that drags me down and impedes my pursuit of happiness. Just today, my beautiful, darling son took a spill and I had to keep reminding myself for hours that it was a mistake and I'm not a bad mother. It isn't easy, but guilt is a useless emotion. It serves no purpose.

Every day! I wish I could get beyond it but I feel like I'm ruled by guilt, always having that feeling that I could do things differently or better. But somehow, maybe this makes me a better person, hope so anyway. Gets me out of bed in the morning!

I live without guilt. I had to learn to forgive myself and when I FINALLY learned to do that....life became more rewarding. I also learned to behave in a manner that was proper so I wouldn't need to continue forgiving myself.

I feel guilt. But I hand it over to Jesus, learn from it, and move on.
