to search or not to search...that is the question?

★★ SEARCHING YAHOO ANSWERS ★★

◙ Some people say that question askers should first search Yahoo Answers for help before asking their questions. This is definitely not a good idea. It would be if the information was valid. But quite often it is not.

◙ I have searched through some of the answered questions. On many pages there were no correct answers. But still a Best Answer was chosen.

◙ On some other pages the correct answer was completely ignored and the incorrect answer was selected as Best Answer because it looked prettier or the person thought that the answerer knew what they were talking about because they were on level 7.

◙ Many of the answers are by people that don't know anything about the subject at hand. Others are by people only here to get points that are totally worthless and don't care if their answer helps someone.

◙ Prsonally I try to get every answer right. But I'm human and that does't always happen. If realize my mistake I go back and edit it or delete it altogether.

◙ Unless you have been at this along time there is no way to which is the correct answer and which is not. Knowing all of this do you think sending people to pages like these is a good idea? Instead why not just give them the correct answer and move on with your day?

Well, the most difficult question i've ever seen. I am partly agreed with u that some answers are just for wasting time and sometimes fun, but i think the YA is generaly a good thing, although all of us are humans and have mistakes.
but is'nt it better than just asking and getting the exact, correct answer. at least it is a kind of communication between people around the world. sharing ideas, problems,... .
In my opinion the YA is good but not perfect, like everything else.

If you want subjective opinions - then answers can be useful for different viewpoints.

For objective facts - use search engines instead every time.

I cannot use subjective views for important life decisions and do not think anyone else should give credibility to answers unless a reliable source is cited.

I have done that before and I have seen some ignorant answers selected as best answers while other better and corretc ones are left alone.

I think questioners should read every answer and analyze which one is better and more high quality :)

They should scrap the whole project...if reliability was the object...It isn't.
