I think that is hard to tell really. I was suprised at what a strong fight Hezbollah put up against them.
How do you measure it?
If it was due to the higher percentage of Israeli military casualities, yes, Hezbollah won.
But I wouldn't say Lebanon won in this. They lost the most.

Hezbollah won!! Ha! Ha! If they won anymore, there would be nothing left of Lebanon. In one sense they won because they were not completely wiped out to a man by Israel. We did learn one thing tho that is really valuable. Boots on the ground cannot easily remove an enemy that is hiding in caves with rockets. That can be done, but it is not wise due to the losses you would incur. We know now that the best weapon against that type of enemy has got to be nuclear that makes the land uninhabitable for 1000 years. This does not make it a barrier tho because troops in vehicles can traverse the area quickly and not be exposed to excess radiation, but they could not stay there.

except for Ehud Olmert, each individual is Israel realizes they lost. both targets were to rescue both IDF individuals abducted illegally and to crush Hezbollah's means to rain Katyusha's on Israelis civilians. Hezbollah effectively fired over a million,2 hundred, and the squaddies are nevertheless being held. Amazingly, Israel has to communicate "standard" relatives with Arab countries, yet those self same countries refuse to assist in getting the squaddies threat-free go back. Hezbollah wasn't overwhelmed. initially, the abode of Saud, Jordan, and Egypt ALL criticized Hezbollah's movements. for sure, they in uncomplicated words did this because the madman in Tehran and Syrian optometrist administration Hezbollah and they prefer to counteract Ahminejad. Nasrallah attracts thousands of thousands for rallies, Olmert is loathed at the same time with his protection Minister Peretz. They both might want to bypass, and that i'm hoping Israel is wise adequate to convey back the entire, and uncowardly Bibi Netanyahu. tremendous question.

No, Hezbollah has lost. They seemed to have dis-appeared and the Lebanese army is moving into the southern part of their country where Hezbollah has operated.

C'on!! You can't change the truth. israel is failed to gain non of it's objects. doesn't it means "lose" ? And also Israel could solve the problem of kidnapping it's soldier by diplomatic actions instead of fighting. So we can't call it a " Defense".
