I have a pair of Little Mermaid earrings that I just got from Disneyland and I absolutely love them, but they're turning my earlobes green. Is there anything I can do to prevent this and to help the green stain fade?

If you can find a jewelry plating company that will do single items, you can get them plated.

try the clear nail polish ( the is one brand called the wet look that works better then anything I have ever tried, my favorite braclet does the same thing, the wet look is actually an acryllic top coat for your nails so once you put it on it really doesnt come off the metal at all like regular clear nail polish will) and just so you know they green color is not harmful, but if they are hurting also you may not be able to use them, I cant use regular earrings at all, I have to use the body piercing kind of hoops in my ears, but like I said the staining itself is not harmful to you (is the oxidation of the metal when it comes in contact when your skin and air)

Umm...try painting the backs of the earrings with some clear nailpolish, don't do the posts because I wouldn't want slivers of nailpolish stuck in your ears. Try hydrogen Peroxide to lighten the green stain. Good luck!

My mom always painted her jewelry that touched her skin with clear nail polish to prevent that. She had a nickel allergy.

If they are dangling earrings, you can get new silver hooks for them from a bead shop. Not the silver colored ones--real silver. They run me about a dollar a pair. Just swap them out and you won't have to deal with that again. I discovered this solution was easier and longer lasting than the nail polish.

No, you can't prevent that. That's just the risk you take with purchasing those pieces of jewlery. But make sure to clean your earrings with Hydrogen Peroxide. It'll break up the stain and clean your earring holes as well.

Besides clear nail polish, there are products out there specifically designed for jewelry. While nail polish works, it can chip off. It's also not a good idea for earrings since it's going through the skin on pierced ears.

Stop wearing those! You have the same problem I do- your ears are too sensitive to wear any metals that aren't pure. If you continue to wear them, your ears could get infected and your holes may close up (happened to me!). Only wear gold, STERLING silver, and other pure metals. See if you can turn your LM earrings into a necklace or a pin!

Try painting the back of the earrings and posts with clear nail polish.

you gotta stop wearing them and keep them around like on your dresser to look at, and thats all because you dont want to get your ears infected ;)

its because you have sensitive skin and your allergic to the material that the earrings are made with. you should stick with real silver or gold ones.

the clearn nail polish bit will work for awhile (u might have to redo it eventually though). however, i would suggest buying sterling silver (or real gold) earrings in the future, or maybe the nikel-free ones.
