I don't think it affects my personal life. People that come over to visit me at first think I am a very disorganized person. But they soon realize that my apartment is organized based on the importance or frequency of use of everything I own. I have so many open projects and unfinished works scattered throughout my home. These can be great conversation starters.

I think it distracts us from accomplishing important things. If a person looks around and see a mass of clutter, it can be oppressive. Just the thought of needing to weed through it to look for something that you're missing can be a tiring and discouraging act. Clutter is the accumulation of procrastination. It just keeps growing until it can become out-of-control. Professional organizers have a heyday with peoples' clutter. Just watch any organization show on tv today!

Tidy house tidy mind
Clutter, style colour and most things will affect your waking mood and state of mind.
Clutter will start you with a busy but tensed mind so no slow warm up - this could add to any pressures that exist or make stress worse.
Avoid clutter when it begins rather than letting it build to an unmanagable state.

Well, I have a lot of clutter and it does affect me. Somehow though I can't get rid of it. Every time I clean up I see clutter appear within two hours. Ah well.......

Clutter is oppressive and frustrating.
In my opinion, it increases the incidence of stress related illness. Think of all the time you run about looking for something yo u urgently need: that can't be good for our health, can it?
It also increases the chance of domestic accidents.
Clutter Kills.

usually if some ones home is cluttered their brain is cluttered too.
You might find dis-organization in life, depression, feeling of chaos and no control. Perhaps use of aggression to try and find balance...
Outter clutter is a sign for inward clutter.
So with those personal issues it can make it harder to lead a happy and fullfilling life.

it contributes the overall feeling that we can't get anything done, it distracts us, is unorganized, which is why we are constantly battling to clean it up, establish order once again...just like the other things in our life
