Well to say a tetanus shot will not hurt would be a falsehood. They are uncomfortable. To understand why the shots hurt and why your arm is sore afterwards you have to understand tetanus. Tetanus causes the muscles in your body to contract and "stick" there(ever heard of lock jaw?). This continuous contraction hurts, like when you lift weights and your muscles are sore from the contractions during the workout. The shot you receive is actually a small dose of tetanus so your body will build up antibodies to the tetanus. You do not want tetanus to invade you whole body. To treat it you would have to be placed in a hyperbarric chamber and have oxygen forced into the tissues.
So to answer your question: tetanus shots will smart a little but it's better than having tetanus all over.

You got it, just relax. A shot is no more than a pinprick. You're arm will be sore from the tetanus shot for a couple days,(not from the needle, but from the serum.) I don't know about the meningitis shot, I don't think I ever had one.

Yes, sure they hurt, but it's only a fleeting thing. The hurt goes away but the protection those shots provide lasts!
Suck it up, take the moment of pain for the long term good they will do!

If you stay relaxed, the most you should feel from THOSE shots is a prick.
If they bother you, find something else to concentrate on- anything else. Some people swear by trying to wiggle their left big toes.

It's not bad. A good nurse who's had practice at this can make it almost unnoticable. If it helps, look away, don't watch. And think of something you really like - riding a horse, playing video games, being on the beach, whatever you really enjoy.

No less than any other shot you get. But if a person is good at sticking, you may not even feel it.
