yes, be grateful. When I was a teen (20 years ago) I used to only get a dollar an hour....you should set your rate at $2.50 an hour an make all jobs 4-5 hours minimum. (plus tips if you can get it) for the holidays, do a flat rate of $25 for each child, and get a house full of the litter rug rats, no minimum time. :?)

Like any job, you should negotiate the price beforehand. If you're willing to do it for $2.50 an hour, then it's fair.
all depends how hard the work is. If you're sitting there watching TV while the kid is somewhere else playing or sleeping- that's not worth much. If you've got to watch over and entertain a young child- that's worth more. If you are providing your own transportation to the home... that's worth more.
find out what you're worth...

That's not even minimum wage. It seems very unfair. It hardly seems worth the time and effort. Tell those people no way next time. Stand up for yourself and demand a better wage before you take the job. Just say up front that your fee is $5 and hour and so much for every kid after that. They can either take it or leave it. Don't sell yourself short. Your time is valuable. People are butt heads in that they will take advantage of others. Especially young people.

That is definately not fair. My sister has a babysitting job and she gets $5 an hour. She usually does it for eight hours, which is $40. i think that you should talk to whoever you're babysitting for, and ask if you could get just a little more money an hour. If you're too shy too ask, like i would be too shy, talk to your mom or dad and ask them to talk to whoever you're babysitting for.

Well it's not like you are building a house, is it? Not much labor involved in baby sitting,so ten bucks is good enough.
