Oh, and countries that owe their existence to, or have been saved/liberated by the USA throughout history don't count since they wouldn't exist if it weren't for the U.S.

Oh, and just a little remind to all of you obvious history buffs, all of Europe would be under Nazi Germany if not for the USA in WWII Including GB. So unless you’re reminiscing about the Nazi's Europe is excluded.
And Japan is a great country, but after the US defeated Japan in WWII we rebuilt it and helped it become the power it is today... oh and they are also dependant on the US military for protection.

Having lived in Canada (which btw I think is a great country)where they give only lip service to free speech and the "free healthcare" is paid for by you’re extremely high taxes... did you know there are more MRI machines in Cincinnati OH then there are in the entire province of Ontario?

Cool, a vote for china who uses political prisoners for slave labor, and wanst it just last week they slaughtered something like 50,000 dogs? including some being walked by their owners!
yepwellmaybe, not sure where to start with you... the people in poverty in the US would be considered wealthy in nearly any other country, the US military is the reason we dont all speak german or japanese... or russian...
also you have no idea how much ive traveled, and I never said the US was perfect, or that other countries arent also great.

It depends on what you mean by "greatest", and for WHICH class of citizens of the USA. With the Dumbya Coup that thinks the Constitution is "just a GD piece of paper" and no more honest elections, can anyone doubt we are NOT the freest? And the Dumbya Coup has taken the USA to be the country to be the world's biggest debtor, and THAT is NOT sustainable. There was not too much time between the presumed zeinith of the Roman Empire and total collapse, and I'm afraid we are on the same path... but with greased skids.

Speaking as a non-American, the US is the greatest country extant in the world today.
Just try to keep in mind that it is only so through the sacrifices and hard work of previous generations.
You are in danger of becoming a lesser nation as the current generations are less industrious and subject to feelings of entitlement and arrogance.
In another generation or so, there will be others vying for your primacy.
Just keep up forging high technology and cultural tolerance and the money parts will take care of themselves.
With the money, comes the security to work the world over as America sees fit.
Me, I figure better you guys than any of the alternatives today.
Skylion, I am a Canadian too, but we would not be free to have lavish government programs were it not for our peaceful, protective, non-invasive neighbour to the south.
Any other country with a superpower on its border would have to spend untold billions to maintain our level of independence...

Norway, Switzerland and Sweden are probably the best countries to live in, although NO country is great.
The US cannot be used because without European settlers there would BE no US. You're incredibly arrogant to believe that America has "saved" anyone. If you're referring to WWII then America would have been invaded by the Soviets if it wasn't for Britain, West Germany and France being strong enough that the USSR would have been in trouble with a war on two fronts. The Normandy landings would never have happened without Poland, because some of the best pilots in the battle of Britain were Polish. Germany would never have been defeated if the Soviets hadn't worn them down on the Eastern Front. So every country couldn't have won without any of the others - the idea that America-Saved-The-Day is unbelievable arrogant.

The USA is the greatest country in the world!
Now we do have our problems just like everyone else but where else can you passionatly speak out about those problems. We fight for what we believe to be sacred (which is our freedom), when many other countrys would back down and give in. The only other countrys that i can truly match our greatness is Israel and Japan. Excpessialy Israel. They have so much courage and determination like us americans. And i support them in everything they do. That is what being an American means...supporting your country. And it's those americans that make this place that best in the world.

I'm a USA citizen. I have visited other countries. I lived in the US Virgin Islands for 1.5 years. I LOVED getting on that plane and coming back to "the mainland". I weep as I write this. There is no better place than my homeland ( I'm from Indiana, USA) I am so thankful that I don't have to live else where. However there are other wonderful countries For me I LOVE the USA, even with all it's faults.

for me there is no greater country in the world or any who could be at the same level or ever will be, thanks to us or our country I might add, WW1 and WW2 came out right, Don't you wonder what Hitler would have done to the rest of the "inferior race'?
If not, Italy, has been a good country and it might be good for quite a while, but USA is and will be the best. Prove me wrong!!

Your implication is 100% valid.
America is the best country in the world. We are free to be critical of it and that's something you can't do in most of the world.
We are free to succeed and free to fail.
We are freee to believe in anything that does not cause harm to others. We all know a large part of the world belives in forcing their belief on others and kills too prove they are right.
There is no better place or culture.
