Why choose Peter Cullen to voice Optimus Prime in the Transformers movie?

He did the voice in the animated series, but why not go with a bigger name actor?

Who else could do the voice of Optimus Prime? That's like asking why not replace Darth Vader's voice with a more popular actor than James Earl Jones.

The fans want him! A bigger name will not make a movie like this better. I agree with the James Earl Jones/Darth Vador comparison...it wouldn't be the same with a different voice.
