Mine would have to be "The Thing," starring Kurt Russell. It's so well acted and directed, you can't but help feel the paraoia. I think it's one of the best horror movies of all time.
Here are some of his other movies:
Halloween (a few of the series)
Ghosts of Mars
Vampires
Escape from LA
Village of the Damned
They Live
Prince of Darkness
In the Mouth of Madness
Body Bags
Big Trouble in Little China
Christine
Escape from NY
Assault on Precinct 13

I loved Ghost of Mars and the Escape LA/NY movies.
Big Trouble/Little China had just the right amount of action/humor
and James Woods was great in Vampires

They Live - has the most meaning or message via controling the population/masses with pointless consumption and subliminal messages; the 'aliens' are symbollic for the ruling, elite classes
this is a very original movie and has a surprisingly good performance by Roddy Piper

hi. i'm a large Stephen King and John timber worker fan... even as i anticipate each individual is going to bypass immediately to the horror videos like Halloween, some my favourites are: Eyes of Laura Mars - 1978 Laura Mars is an rather valuable extreme-end trend and promotion photographer. Detective John Neville notes incredible similarities between her artwork images and those of really crime scenes. even inspite of the undeniable fact that suspicious of her, he quickly realizes that she hasn't been all in favour of any of the crimes yet can see what's happening by skill of the eyes of the killer. After her associates and a number of her fashions are killed, she joins forces with Neville to % out the killer formerly she too will grow to be a sufferer. (Written by technique of garykmcd) destroy out to ny - 1981 In 1997, even as the US President crashes into large apple, now a large max. protection detention center, a convicted economic organization robber is distributed in for a rescue.

Assault on Precinct 13 is greta movie. It shows how great movies can be done without great budgets.
My favourites are Vampires and Fog (original version!!!)
but I like almost all that he had done.

They are all good movies. If I have to pick just one, I'll go for Big Trouble in Little China. It is just a real fun movie to watch.

The first Halloween first was his best I feel. It was such a success against huge odds. A shoestring budget that produced a huge hit for all involved.

OTHER THAN THE HALLOWEEN SERIES AND VAMPIRES.
IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS WAS ONE OF THE MOST UNUSUAL MOVIES I'VE SEEN. I LOVED THAT MOVIE.
